Fit to Work

BSA Outpatient Therapy Services offers physical capacity profile (PCP) testing, which helps employers match the physical abilities of their employees with suitable tasks for more cost-effective and efficient operations. By assigning employees to job duties suited for their physical abilities, employers can reduce the risk of workplace injury, the need for employee absence and the expenses associated with workers’ compensation claims.

PCP testing is performed by the highly trained physical and occupational therapy teams at BSA Outpatient Therapy Services. During testing, the following will be assessed:

  • Lifting capability and knowledge of safe lifting techniques
  • Lower body mobility and overall range of motion
  • Medical history
  • Overall fitness and health
  • Upper body, lower body, back and abdominal strength

After testing, results are available within 30 minutes, and the employee will be grouped into one of five categories: Sedentary Work, Light Work, Medium Work, Heavy Work or Very Heavy Work. To set up a meeting to discuss PCP testing opportunities for you employees, call Brant Capps at 806-212-0710.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

The BSA Cardiac Rehab team is highly-trained in helping patients improve their overall health and reduce their chance of developing future heart issues through education, exercise and support. The BSA Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Programs certified by AACVPR are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular rehabilitation and this designation showcases BSA’s commitment to quality patient care.

Participation in the BSA Outpatient Cardiac Rehab Program can be the first step toward improving a patient’s quality of life. Cardiac rehab provides support and personalized treatment plans. This program is 12-weeks long with exercise sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Patients who have experienced the following heart issues or surgeries may qualify for the program:

  • Angina
  • Coronary Artery Bypass
  • Cardiomyopathy
  • Heart Attack or Heart Transplant
  • Stent Placement
  • Valve Replacement or Repair

Participating in a cardiac rehab program offers numerous benefits, including increased stamina and strength to help you return to your daily routine, and a reduction in the physical and emotional effects of heart disease. Additionally, cardiac rehab can help stop or even reverse damage to the heart’s blood vessels, promoting long-term heart health.

BSA’s Cardiac Rehab Program offers a free six-week revolving education series which will cover topics related to heart and general health. Each class is taught by cardiac rehab nurses, dietitians, pharmacists and past program participants. Classes are open to the general public and current cardiac rehab patients, their spouses or caregivers.
