Hearing Loss Treatment
Hearing and ear-related conditions impact millions of Americans across all age groups, from infants to older adults. From tinnitus and hearing loss to ear infections and head and neck cancers, these conditions pose significant challenges to those affected.
Tinnitus, an audiological and neurological condition, affects more than 25 million American adults, causing perceived sounds such as ringing or whooshing in the ears. This condition can be either acute or chronic. Ear infections, on the other hand, are the most common illness among infants and young children, with roughly 75% of children experiencing one before their third birthday.
In the adult population, about 37 million adults aged 18 and older report hearing difficulties, while 30 million people aged 12 and older have experienced hearing loss in both ears, as measured by standard hearing examinations. Men aged 20 to 69 are statistically about twice as likely to experience hearing loss as women in the same age group.
Hearing Aid Fitting
Depending on the cause and degree of your hearing loss, our audiologists will determine whether a hearing aid is the right option for you. Should you need a hearing aid, our specialists and fitting technicians will ensure you receive a hearing aid that is comfortable and customized to your ear shape and hearing needs.
Hearing aid styles can range in size and shape. We offer five types of hearing aids: behind-the-ear (BTE), in-the-ear (ITE), receiver-in-the-ear (RITE), in-the-canal (ITC) and CROS/BiCROS hearing aids. The style of hearing aid you receive will be based upon the following factors:
- Any presentable limitations
- Dexterity
- The characteristics of your hearing loss
- Your budget
- Your cosmetic and style preferences
- Your activity level and lifestyle
The most widely fitted and sophisticated circuit available today is the digital circuit, which offers more accurate fitting, more control over feedback, directional microphones and automatic adjustment of volume throughout the day. Programmable analog circuits are also available.
Hearing Evaluations
Many people don’t know that they have hearing damage until it’s in its more advanced stages. Most adults experience presbycusis, or age-related hearing loss. We recommend that everyone ages 60 and older have an annual hearing test to establish your baseline ability, and determine if some form of nonmedical treatment might be a good fit for you.
In addition, people who have been exposed to loud noises because of work or recreation should also have their hearing checked. People who work on flight crews, who are in manufacturing or factory careers, or who are exposed to loud machinery like farmers or construction workers all should be checked regularly for damage to their ears.

Custom swim plugs are available for patients with chronic ear infections, damaged ear drums, or PE tubes that must be kept dry. We also offer custom noise protectors for patients exposed to loud sounds, and sleep plugs for patients struggling to get a good night’s rest.
